Well, If the Mets Fan Incarnate Has Been Born Again...

...then there must be something to all this.

Yesterday, for the 2nd #HarveyDay of the year, and one where our ace was feeling under the weather, the place was once again rocking, and it did especially when it was dire. Two vital players had gone down in the 7th inning, and the Marlins were bearing down, having cut the lead to 1, it now being the 9th and a runner on. I will admit, it was the most Metsian angst I had had all week, though it wasn't in 2010 form, or '11, '12, '13, or '14 form. As Greg Prince, whom I like to call the Mets Fan Incarnate, said on Faith and Fear in Flushing when the winning streak had only reached 6, this feels different:

"You can draw parallels and comparisons with previous seasons and their encouraging beginnings. You can project out from the best of the past anything you want. Yet I’m not tempted to. I’ve spent most of my existence keeping close tabs on this franchise and I’m telling you: this feels different.
I feel equally untethered to the unrelenting sour times of the recent past and the occasionally glorious times of the distant past, and I don't mind. I take comfort in knowing it's all back there and that it all informs what we expect and how we react. Trust me, I know where to find it should I need it. This 2015 journey, though, is its own thing: kinda young, kinda now...kinda free, kinda wow."
So, even though everything COULD theoretically fall apart with a runner on and Giancarlo Stanton up with 2 outs, us fans were going to be every bit as confident and involved as every player on the Mets 25-man roster.

It hurt, but we've won 8 straight.
It sucks that I have to say this again, as I did after David Wright went down, but I think this team will once again absorb the blow.
This feels different.
This feels like the 2015 New York Mets.
FUNKY FRESH.

Enjoyin' the Sweep Down by the Bay

I took a solo journey this afternoon on my Brother-in-Law's bike to Irondequoit Bay, the destination from the night before, as the Mets' Bay helped seal the sweep over the Fish. A beautiful view I will speak of soon that was only enhanced by the awesome baseball being played by the Mets.

For now, celebrate the work you all do. Have a wonderful Labor Day.

Viva La Bay.

(Remember this guy?! The first concert I ever went to in my adult life was a Rusted Root concert in 2003 at Irving Plaza. But my first concert ever was a Raffi concert. Somewhere in Virginia, probably at the Landmark Theater in Richmond. Probably in the 80's.)

Well...Another Comeback But We Got Greg Dobbed

The Mets once again rallied from being down early to take a lead into the 9th. Frank Francisco, however, could not hold it, giving up a game-losing single to our old Phillie Phoe Greg Dobbs, as the Mets lose a thriller, 5-6.

My eyes did not view this game but sporadically, as we were out to dinner with my mom and my little sister for an early Mother's Day affair. From the second Andres Torres' glove was just a tad to the right of Jose Reyes' line-drive in the 1st, the game had the feeling it might not fall our way. These Mets, however, continue to storm back day in and day out, and they almost pulled it off once more.

The game, in the low amount of viewing I did, had as close to a playoff atmosphere as you can get between the Mets and the Marlins in May (give props to the 30,000 fans that showed up. A lot more than we are used to seeing down there.) I was able to catch the 9th, and to me, the Giancarlo Stanton at-bat was clearly the key to that inning. Keep him off the bases and the Marlins would fail to gain the momentum they needed. Frank Francisco missed ever so slightly inside, however, and Stanton absolutely crushed a ground ball all the way to the left field wall. Man, that kid is strong.

I'll tell ya, though. I see the winning look in these Mets players' eyes. Even in a loss such as this, they continue to prove they will never back down. There is a different feel to this team than to recent Met teams that won early in the year but eventually fizzled out. Maybe it is the idea the franchise is slowly digging itself out of a deep ditch, but this Orange and Blue squad is giving me no reason to even ponder whether the fight it has will dissipate.

So, let's brush this off our shoulders and get 'em with the knuckla tamorrah.

The Mets take on the Marlins in game 2 of the 3-game set at 1:05PM. RA Dickey will take on Ricky Nolasco. Let's start a new winning streak.

(Sick catch, Johan.)
