The End is Nigh and the Song of the Day

All of a sudden
The End is Nigh
Only 7 games left
One we'll take in nearby

It's been quite the season
Forget about the collapse
We're that much closer
To setting NL booby traps

It was quite the celebration
Of the 50th Anniversary
Though sometimes it was like
The Mets were still in the nursery

But that's what you get
It only felt right
To live a hybrid season
Of Mets history in our sight

So ne'er any of you fret
Dry those tearing eyes
One day the promised land will been seen
And maybe multiply

But for now, the final home game is here
And there's nothing we can do
But sit back, relax and enjoy the show
Stop acting like a fool.

This is your team
There is no other
What's really your excuse?

You've got RA to enjoy today
So, go put on your shoes.

There's one more game at home to take in.
One more game of baseball for our souls.
Before we say hello to winter
Let us one more time rock N roll.

LET'S. GO. METS.

Shanatova and the Song of the Day

I went to temple today. I never go to temple. Usually family dinners around the holidays, but very rarely do I venture to the house of worship. This one was in the form of the Javits Center, at the children's service with my family. Yom Kippur is the only time I go to temple. Judaism isn't really my religion. It's my culture, and a big part of my New York culture. So, for one day, I sing songs with mostly little kids as the Rabbi and Cantor perform in the front.

And I don't eat. Even when getting Mozzarella sticks, fish sticks and pizza ready for the children.

Not looking for sympathy. It's just the way it is. On this one day, come on. You can hold out.

I'm not even supposed to be doing THIS right now. But if you're reading this and a Jew, it's either sundown or YOU aren't 'sposed to be doing this.

So, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for this. And everything else I've done wrong the last year.

So, while the sun sets, let's atone while we listen to the horn blow.

I'm going to go eat.

La Shanatova.

I'll see you at temple tomorrow.

CLOSING. DAY. SOON.
LET'S. GO. METS.

Whatever.

It's not apathy. It just is. At least there was some fight in 'em as opposed to those other 26 losses in the 2nd half at home.

I went between the TV, the At Bat and the radio as The Big Bad Baseball Gypsy and I unloaded stuff from the show into his apartment from my Mom's lovely-lended-out vehicle. I can turn the car on remotely and since I had the pregame on before arriving at their place I knew the game would be on for me as I opened the back door. I grabbed some fluorescent lights and Josh Lewin erupted in jubilation as David Wright made it 4-3. Fantastic timing.

But alas, the comeback fell short.

Every win is a victory and every loss is a victory, as every single player gets evaluated heading into the offseason.

(I hope Robert Carson's Ok.)

And David Wright should break the Mets' hits record either tonight or Thursday.

Two more games.

Then no more Citi Show.

Don't pretend. You know you're gonna miss it.

It's Gotta Be on an Indian Burial Ground

And it only conjures up bad juju in the 2nd half of seasons.

That's the only way to explain it.

Right?

LET'S. GO. METS.

10 Games Left for the Boys of Flushing

Before you know it, the final homestand is here.

10 games to duplicate their Citi Field 2nd half win total. That's where we are.

But you know what? I love baseball, I love the game in front of me, and I love the Orange and Blue.

These players have played as hard as they can, and it unfortunately didn't work out.

So goes the way it goes.

No matter what happens the next 90 or more innings, I will stand up and applaud these men, who certainly hate the losing more than we do. They have chosen to work as hard as they can to come as close to mastering the hard game of baseball for not only their own life-fullfilling enjoyment, but for ours as well.

I look forward to drinking champagne one day, as they do too, but for now, I applaud their valiant efforts, sip a beer and watch the game go.

Thank you for a joining the annals of time, 2012 New York Mets.

You will be spoken of for years to come.

LET'S GO WATCH SOME BASEBALL.

LET'S. GO. METS.

 Epically 80's.
