Anything But a Cakewalk

As Jason Bay stood up at the plate with The Duda on base, I thought to myself, "Let's see him pull one real hard down the line, so it has a chance to reach the 3rd deck. Pull one for the first time in his entire Mets career. Now THAT would be beautiful."

Bay still has not done that pulling charted by Omar and his peeps, but a blast to straight-away center certainly sufficed. Add that to another Scott Hairston Bomb, and we easily get spoiled with power as Mets fans. Had Dickey been able to lock it down, the title of this post would have been "Now THAT'S Beautiful." Alas, our hearts jumped some but Rauch battled through to lock down the win.

This game is certainly brought to you by the Number 19.

Merrily We Knuckleball Along

I don't just root for R.A. Dickey every time he starts. I root for him to dominate. He did that once again tonight, with some help from Ike in the 3-0 complete game win. He drove in the 1st run with a sac fly in the top of the 4th, and a 2-run blast in the top of the 7th. A fantastic turnaround by our 1st baseman.

My Dad and I drove from the city to his upstate house the whole game, which can be attributed to how fast RA works when he's on since it's give or take a 2-hour drive. I am sitting down now at his house and watching the post-game, specifically Burkhardt's interview with Dickey right now (I wish I could pause it and quote him, 'cause he's awesome, but I'll take care of that at a later point, if the video is on SNY.TV)

I have been pumped all year for any time Reyes strikes out against the Knuckler, but the only thing I can think of that is better than that is Dickey picking Jose Reyes off 1st. I just saw it for the 1st time. That is sooooooooooooo sweet. He threw over there a couple times before he finally got our former friend leaning too far to 2nd. RA certainly gets the Abider of the Game award for his 17th victory.

Yesterday's Game and the Random Song of the Day

It seems that when Jon Niese gives up runs, he never gives up a big bomb. Whatever team faces him, they will string together a bunch of singles, and hanging another zero has gotten away. If the Mets had continued attacking Kyle Kendrick, maybe Jon doesn't feel he has to be too fine. Still, I appreciate the strides Niese has made this summer, and this coming from someone who was really hard on him recently. He needs to finish the season healthy, however, for me to feel better about the guy going into 2013.

Josh Thole was not the only reason we lost yesterday. And I'm not saying Kelly Shoppach is the greatest catcher of all time. But right now, there is clearly a vast difference between the way Thole plays the game and the way Shoppach plays the game.

Looking forward to RA's 17th win tonight.

Dickey-Turner Overdrive

I thought I was gonna be able to watch the game today, but I ended up having to drive around the city listening to Howie and Josh lay out the Land for me. Dickey got it started 'cause nobody else could, then Turner finally connected for one. I had been waiting for him to finally do that. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to see it, but fortunately, he did it today.

Oh, Hey BayBay. Breakin' the 2-run Streak.

Brett Wallace.
Scott Moore.
Tyler Greene.

Nothing comes easy for these Mets.

Win a series? Sure.

It's a cinch.

Soaking up the Flushing Sun

My lil sis and I just got back from a solid 6-1 Mets win. RA wins his 15th with a complete-game performance and Jose loses David Wright's ball in the Flushing sun to set up the go-ahead run. There will be more on this fantastic day tomorrow morning, but for now, go and enjoy the Summertime.

The Knuckle Dance is Back Again.

I wish I had more time to write about this lovely win and the much needed split, but unfortunately I don't. Instead, enjoy KC & the Sunshine Band and look forward to some wins by the Bay.
