Typical

Remember last year's All-Star Game? At Citi Field? The NL team got shut out on 3 hits?

I said to myself, "My, how Citi Field of the All-Star Game."

This offense seems to change its approach dramatically when coming home, and that is the dimensions still haunting this team. Not to take anything away from how well the Yankees pitchers pitched in our ballpark, but we had our chances. Am I saying change the dimensions even further? No. I'm saying the damage has been done and there is no fixing it after they structurally ruined any possibility of that without a major overhaul of the ballpark.

The aggressiveness disappears because they are afraid of powering an out, when the aggressiveness should stay and they should aim for the gaps. Home runs will come...maybe. But still, something is fundamentally wrong with the psyche of anyone who plays in that place as the home team.

So, we head down to Washington, DC, for our first series against the Nationals in their ballpark. At this point, with no Lagares in the lineup, for the 4th time in 5 days, Terry seems off his rocker even more than I believed he could go, but unless they keep losing, there is really nothing that can be done no matter how much a good amount of us think this is outlandish and fireable. Terry Collins is a detriment to us winning ballgames, and it's becoming more and more a poor mark on Sandy's judgement, no matter how much a 2-year deal is anything but a true vote of confidence.

I will ALWAYS root for the Mets to win, no matter how much I might disagree with certain pieces in place. If this inconsistency continues, and even more so leans towards increasing the numbers in the right column of the record, it's only a matter of time before Terry Collins's contract is eaten.

Let's pick the Nats out of our hair and squish them as we throw them to the ground.

LET'S. GO. METS.

Helping Ted Win in Vegas

It's been a while since quotes of Ted were plastered across these Orange and Blue pages, but with the man going 4 for 4 in betting on baseball in Sin City, there were plenty of quotes pouring in while I was at work and the Mets were working on a 12-5 win.

First, before we quote Ted from Vegas, I posted yesterday without any knowledge that Ike had been announced as returning from Vegas in the waning hours of July 4th. The man got 3 hits last night, his 1st a dribbler that played into the shift. EXACTLY. That's what Ike needs to be doing. Of course we want doubles power and home run power from the guy. If he's concentrating on getting on base any way he can, the approach that will bring the power swing will be there and the doubles and home runs will come. And the average will be up because of the more contact-oriented approach. That's my take. I'm glad he's back.

AND Kirk Nieuwenhuis! We sometimes forget about him and how solid of a hitter he was for most of his minor league career and for the 1st part of 2012. The strikeouts had mounted and he was too much of a liability. His approach has slowly gotten better since the walkoff home run against the Cubs and if he can continue to see the baseball and put sound swings on the ball, we might have an outfielder on our hands that doesn't have to be gotten from the trade deadline or free agency. Clearly, it's just 1 game, but it was the game of his life, and here's to more of them in the future.

Anyway, here's Ted's Quote:
Can the pen get through 4 innings
Can you tell the Mets to hurry up and win this. I'm trying to cash out and get dinner.
Stop scoring runs.
Take a knee. Lets end this game.
I got shit to do.
For the record, The Mets, the Phils, the Cards and the Jays helped Ted go 4 for 4.

LET'S. GO. METS.

The Random Rock 'n' Roll Show Continues

After posting this AC/DC video on Friday, I kept exploring others from one of the tightest bands in the history of any genre. The next video I put on was the following Paris concert from 1979. I mostly listened to it since I was busy, but every so often when I would hear an interview begin, I would flip on over to indulge in a side of all the musicians I have rarely seen.

Bon Scott, the original lead singer of the band before his passing in 1980, fascinates me. I want to learn more about the man, for he seems to be one of the most interesting men that I will certainly never have a chance to meet on this Earth.

Some might be like, "Seriously, Sam? BON SCOTT? What about Galileo, or Abraham Lincoln, or Jack Kerouac?"

Yeah, definitely list those guys, too.

To me, everything about Bon Scott, how he presented himself to the world (good and bad), draws you in every moment he is in your eyesight.

(Not to mention the others that aid in completely altering your idea of what a live show can be.)

If you have not savored enough of the band AC/DC was with Bon Scott as the frontman, or you have savored it enough and know that enough is NEVER enough...

Please.

Watch the following Concert Film on loop.

Also, one more thing...

This is the first post I have written on my brand new Macbook
Pro. I'm pumped. I'm real pumped. Very excited for the expanded capabilities I now have. Not really having time to explore it earlier, I have come home from my Saturday night plans eager to begin the next era in my personal computer history.

Slightly ridiculous, I know.

Anyway, to all those out there already home from your night out, and of course, those that never left (like most of my Saturday nights...)

I hope the following Concert Film enhances your current world.
RIDE. ON. ROCKER.

A Rhyme for your Time in a Metsian State of Mind

With all the Verse around me
In the show put on by Fools
I had the inclination
To break all the sound prose rules.

I might not follow each and
Every scheme the Gypsy says
But I think most of you care as much
As you care about Ollie Perez.

We're not here to go over the rules
of the Iambic Pentameter
We're here to speak of our own Mets
The team we hold so dear.

What is it that makes every weakness
Be exploited all at once?
That's what we've seen in this 2nd half
That's led us to all fuss.

Four wins at home
It doesn't make sense
Track records normally show
You play winning baseball here at home
Aim for .500 on the road.

Is it the energy that Davey says
Is like a freakin' morgue?
Could it be that the lack of fans
Has players feeling sore?

How could it be
An over-achieving team
Could fall so fast?
Why can't there be a middle ground
Instead of trying to avoid being last?

Some say certain players aren't tough enough
And while that might be true
It's not as black and white
As fans and media have in their view.

There are several different factors
Some we certainly cannot see
We may think they're crystal clear to us
But there's no way they can be.

I wish I had the answers
We all wish that we did
Some of us wish the Wilpons
Would let more of us make bids.

To some it is as simple as them
Giving up their pride and joy
They see a father and his son
Playing with the team like a toy.

But if they can recover
I say more power to them
I'd love for the Redemption Song
To include the Wilpon's Gems.

But who knows how the story will go
We didn't see this coming
We thought after the fantastic start
They'd still be in the running.

But they did what they tend to have done
Way too often over 50 years
It certainly makes it easy
For the next rhyme to include "tears."

But one day it will turn around
I know it's hard to believe
Even when the mantra of this franchise
Has been to keep "believe" up our sleeve.

I haven't been to a game in weeks
The one with Collin McHugh
I'm trying to go next Tuesday Eve
As they come home to bid us Adieu.

Regardless how this season has gone
I will certainly be upset
No matter how fed up you all get
Say it with me now...

LET'S. GO. METS.
