Well, That Was Quite the Awesome Romp

The New York Mets continued their 2012 domination of the Phillies, using some early clutch hits to propel them to a 11-1 win.

Welcome home, boys.

My favorite part of the night was easily the David Wright bomb. That was AWESOME. I love it when David's got the power goin', when he recognizes those high fastballs and drills them to deep center field. Yes, Jon Niese driving in 2 runs on a 1st-pitch cutter is a close 2nd, and Daniel Murphy continuing to rake is up there too...and Ruben Tejada not missing a beat since coming back, and all those sweet defensive plays by Wright, Murph, Ruben, and Ike (honorable mention to Rauch and his barehanded stop to end the game), and Niese continuing to grow as a pitcher after that Carlos Ruiz homer on an inside cutter that didn't quite cut inside...but there's just something about that Wright home run. It's magnificent.

(He does stick his tongue out a lot, doesn't he? And it's seriously captured a lot in photos. [Weird what non-David Wright photos with tongues sticking out shows up in that search.])

Oh, and Josh Thole...BE SUBSTANTIALLY MORE CAREFUL WHEN COMING INTO THE PLATE.

Today at 1:10PM, Chris Young aims to send the Mets to 8 over when he takes on the winless lefty Cliff Lee. It's amazing that Cliff hasn't won a game, but today ain't the day for his luck to change.

LET'S. GO. METS.
